Balance Equations for Liquid Crystals in Two Dimensions
Mol. Mat.2, 1992, 1-6
As a first step in a continuum theory for two dimensional liquid
crystals the balance equations on an arbitrarily curved surface are
derived. Possible applications for a phenomenological theory in two
dimensions are free standing films, phase boundaries or the boundary
layer near the wall in a liquid crystal device.
